Bicycle Transportation
Bus fares include transportation of one bicycle. Bicycles must be boxed in an approved container for ALL bus transportation options. If interested in shipping your bicycle to the start, you may use BikeFlights.com (877-231-1363), the preferred bicycle shipping service for Ride The Rockies. The SCS Bike Porter Service
Ride The Rockies participants have the option to book a complete bike porter service for $44.00. SCS will transport complete bikes from Denver to Alamosa and from Salida to Denver. Pick up /drop off locations and times run in alignment with the above bus transportation schedule. Please visit www.summitcyclesolutions.com to reserve your spot!

Shuttle Buses

Shuttles will be provided free of charge to get you around town, from the HQ site and to various destinations including: Entertainment site, Ride The Rockies hotels that were booked through Summit Cycle Solutions, grocery stores, ATM’s, etc. A shuttle stop will be marked at the HQ site to start your journey.

*Shuttles will run to the lodging properties and neighboring communities listed below, or designated stops  within a short distance of the lodging properties outlined.

Shuttles will pick up at the Headquarter site and drop off at lodging destinations on arrival day. On the departure day, shuttles will pick-up at the lodging properties and return you to the Headquarter Site. Some destinations will have a specific pick-up and drop-off time and others will run continuous loops. All pick-up and drop-off times will be listed in the Mapbook, which you will receive at registration on June 10.

NOTE: B&B’s may be booked through Summit Cycle Solutions, but due to location and safety concerns, shuttles will be unable to drop-off and pick-up at these properties; bookings will be reserved for those with their own vehicles.

Baggage Transportation

One bag per cyclist (70 lbs. max.) will be transported throughout the Tour. A non-framed waterproof durable duffel bag is suggested. Trash bins are not allowed. This type of luggage is hard to maneuver and is dangerous for our baggage staff to load. This one bag must include your tent, sleeping bag and clothing for the week.

There are three baggage trucks; early, middle and late. The early and middle trucks leave when they are full. The late truck leaves the host community at 9:00 a.m. sharp. Cyclists may drop off bags starting at 5:15 a.m. and are responsible for loading their own bags onto the truck. Afternoon pick-up will be located at the designated baggage area at the headquarter site in the destination town.
RTR baggage service does not coordinate with Sherpa Packer or Summit Cycle Solutions for baggage pick-ups/drop-offs.

SCS baggage transfer
For a fee, RTR event attendees have the option to book luggage transportation through the SCS booking platform. This is the ideal product for those who book lodging through SCS or might be staying at unique properties such as VRBO, air B&B’s etc.

A FEW NOTES...

  • Bag pickups start at 5:30 a.m., and end at 9:00 a.m. SCS will have three trucks running in circulation for drop offs/pick ups from lodging properties
  • If you book lodging outside of SCS (not recommended), then we will need to know your pick-up/drop-off locations. You may note these locations on the checkout form. Attendee accommodations must be within 10 miles of each host town entertainment site.
  •  Bags may not exceed 75lbs. One bag per booking.

SCS Payment & Cancellation Policies:
Payment in full is required at the time of booking as inventory is live. Cancellations shall incur a 20% administrative fee on the total reservation amount (including taxes).

NO baggage transportation cancellations shall be allowed after March 15th, 2017.
